Ventura County Fusion To Host Monarcas Morelia In An International Soccer Challenge Match On July 5th.
Fusion Takes on Liga MX Club at Ventura College Sportsplex this Summer.
Ventura County Fusion will host Liga MX club Monarcas Morelia in an international exhibition match at Ventura College Sportsplex on Wednesday, July 5th at 7pm. The match marks the first time in history where the Fusion will play a First Division Mexican team in Ventura.
“We are very excited to bring one of the most popular soccer teams from Mexico to Ventura County. It’s a great opportunity for local Morelia fans to see their team play locally and a fantastic opportunity for our club to play against one of the top teams in Liga MX,” said Fusion head coach Rudy Ybarra.
Founded in 1924, Monarcas Morelia, is the largest club based in the Mexican state of Michoacan. In their history, Morelia has won one first division title (2000), one Copa Mexico trophy (2013) and one Supercopa Mexico title (2014). At the international level, Morelia lifted the 2010 SuperLiga trophy by defeating MLS side New England Revolution 2-1 in the final.
In the 2017 Apertura Liga MX tournament, Morelia advanced to the quarter finals and finished runners up in the COPA MX losing on penalty kicks to Chivas.
Complete with National team experience, Morelia’s roster entails Juan Pablo “Chato” Rodriguez (Mexico), Luis Gabriel Rey (Colombia), Cristian Penilla (Ecuador), Raul Ruidiaz (Peru), Sebastian Vegas, Rodrigo Millar and Diego Valdes (Chile).
Tickets for the match are general admission with a cost of $30 in advance and $35 day of the event and will go on sale online on Tuesday, June 6th at Ticketfly.com & Ticketon.com.
